What does it take to race sail boats?

You don't need to have a lot of money. You don't even need to know how to sail!

Sail Education Resources teaches all aspects of sailing and seamanship, through training to compete in races on Tampa Bay and beyond. This isn't a cruiser's program. You will join a racing team and learn all the skills needed to sail fast and sail well.

Unlike a racing team, our focus is on learning. You will not just learn a position on the crew — you will learn all aspects of sailing. Our philosophy is that every crew member should know the details of sail trim, and not just how to "move a line to position 2."

Sailing is about more than just being on the water. Knowing how to maintain and repair a boat is just as important as knowing how to make it go fast. You will be expected to assist with annual spring and fall maintenance, as well as repairs that come up at the dock and on the water.

Be prepared to work, but we also have a lot of fun. The culture is casual, with a passion for learning.
